CYBERUN Ultimate 1986 CONTROLS : Keyboard, Kempston, Cursor --------------------------------------------------------------------- AIM : Deep in a remote sector of the galaxy lies the Zeberama system, a cluster of stars and planets held together by an unusual lattice of plasmic energy. Nobody would take much notice of it if it weren't for the fact that the system is formed from Cybernite, a fabulously rare substance crucial for star-mining. However, the energy lattice is so strong that only an incredibly powerful ship would have any chance of returning from Zeberama. Such a ship has been constructed in sections and transported to Zeberama; you've been chosen to pilot the command module and return with a cargo of Cybernite... GAMEPLAY : Your task is basically twofold: find the boosters, solar sails and other sections of the rest of the ship, and escape with a hold full of Cybernite. The items are scattered around a two-dimensional scrolling landscape (a la DEFENDER) which, as usual, is inhabited by hostile aliens who do their best to make your task harder. Although your ship is shielded, the aliens will sap it fast and take a heavy toll of your four lives. The damage caused is indicated by the small picture of your ship at the top of the screen, which changes colour as damage is inflicted. Fuel is also limited, as indicated by the gauge at the right of the screen. Extra fuel can be picked up from fuel stations around the planet's surface, which drip droplets of fuel for you to catch. You are armed with a rather puny laser, although you can upgrade to a more powerful plasma ray (if you can find it!) COMMENTS : "A good arcade adventure shoot-em-up". RATING : 90% (CRASH #28, May 1986) NOW : Not a bad game, actually, although a bit dated; it may not have been Ultimate's finest hour but it's quite a good blaster nonetheless. --------------------------------------------------------------------- KEYS : Left - Z, C, B, M Right - X, V, N Up - A to L Fire lasers - Q to P Fire plasma - 1 to 0
